WHEN parents and teachers started discussing an outdoor early learning area at a North Yorkshire school, Hannah Williams was a toddler.
But after scaling two of North Yorkshire's highest hills to help raise cash for the scheme, the seven-year-old was given the honour of officially opening the area at Aspin Park Community Primary School, in Knaresborough.
Hannah conquered Ingleborough and Whernside to raise her contribution towards the £19,000 total.
The area was a joint effort involving sponsorship from local firms, the parent teacher association, and the school.
Pupils from nearby King James's School helped by enlarging and painting outdoor murals, designed by the pupils at Aspin Park.
Aspin headteacher Peter Kendall said: "I'm delighted with the area.
"It has worked really well and will be used all year round."
