A DANCE school is celebrating after winning trophies in a national competition.
Members of the Dianne White Academy of Dance, in Shildon, travelled to Blackpool for the International Dance Teachers' Association Nationwide Medalist of the Year competition for old time and modern sequence.
About 20 students, aged from four to 49, danced their way to victory in competition with members of dance schools from all over the country.
Six-year-old Rheanna Burn showed her skills to win the three-to-five years rosette, while Sophie McKay, nine, beat off competition for the six-to-ten years Star Dance title.
Other competition successes included Fern Whittaker, who came second in the six-to- eight class, Roger Stamp, 49, who finished fourth in the old- time and modern sequence category, Jessica Bradley, who was placed sixth for the six-to-eight class, and Paul Tinkler, who came sixth in the old-time dancing section.
