A GROUP of schoolchildren have been given awards following a project about autumn.
The winning pupils at Bishop Ian Ramsey School, in Medomsley, near Consett, were presented with Manor House Care Home's Dr Mukherjee Award for excellence.
Their paintings and writings, expressing what the season meant to them, were judged by residents of the care home, originally owned by the late Dr Amiya Mukherjee.
The six winners, one from each of the years, were: Michael Gladders, reception, Mirrin Henderson, year one, Lee Dent, year two, Alex Westerberg, year three, Edina Sivell, year four, and Gary Limond, year five.
Each winner got a certificate and £10 book token to spend during school book week.
Care home business manager Bob Elsey, who presented the awards, also handed over a further £200 donation to the school for the purchase of more books.
