THREE students from a Newton Aycliffe school have represented the North-East in a basketball competition.
Philip Knox and twin brothers Daniel and David Halford, from Woodham Community Technology College took part in the English Schools Basketball Association Inter Region Tournament at the Jesse Boot Centre, Nottingham.
The trio followed in the footsteps of Woodham's Lewis Carr, who took part in the tournament last year.
The competition is used to help national team coaches in their selection of players, but selection for the North-East team is an honour in itself and demonstrates the high standards achieved by the boys.
The association recorded congratulations to Danny Morgans, head of PE at Woodham, for the coaching of the students.
Mr Morgans said: "The boys have been committed to the sport for over two years now, giving up their time and being dedicated to training sessions.
"They have been justly rewarded by earning their places in the 2003 Inter Region Tournament and everyone at Woodham is very proud of their achievements."
