A JEWELLER was injured after fighting a robber in his shop.
The robber entered the store in Dovecote Street, Stockton at 11.10am on Saturday before grabbing hundreds of pounds worth of jewellery.
He was stopped by the shop-owner's son but the shopkeep-er was hit in the face and was left with a broken nose, bruising to his cheek and cuts to his chest.
The robber then ran out of the building and past The Arc theatre at about 11.30am. Police are studying closed-circuit television footage and are appealing for information.
The burglar was in his early 20s, about 5ft 9ins and had short, fair hair with blond highlights. He wore a light- grey tracksuit top, navy T-shirt, navy jeans and a Burberry style cap.
