A PUB landlord is getting punters to sign a pledge to say they will spend more time with their families.

Robert Middlemiss, landlord of the Church Mouse pub in Chester-le-Street, said families with grown-up children are less likely to get together for a meal or event.

So he has taken matters into his own hands and created a pledge certificate for people to sign, to say that they will try to make more time to get together.

The family with the oldest average age that signs the pledge, will have a tree planted in the grounds of the Church Mouse pub in their name. Pledges can be made throughout November.
