Durham Amateur Rowing Club took part in the sixth and final event in the Long Distance Sculling series, which took place on the river Wear in Sunderland this weekend.
The course proved difficult for the crews, with a bitterly cold day and a strong tide at the start.
Yet again, the women's S4 double sculls, (J. West, F. Belsey) won their event. This is a clean sweep for the series, winning the overall series prize. Well done ladies.
H. Stainforth was the fastest women's veteran sculler on the day, also winning the overall prize for the best Women's Vet sculler for the series.
Other good wins were achieved by M. Hogan (Women's S3 single scull), M. Tyler (Men's Vet C single scull) and S. Wareing and C. Edwards (Women's Vet Double Sculls).
With the series over, the next event for the club is a trip down to York on November 23 for the small boats head.
Overall, the club has had a successful sculling series, but as ever, are always looking out for new talent. Anyone interested in rowing at Durham can log onto www.durham-arc.org.uk.
