Wilton: Gateshead were this week's visitors to Wilton 1st as the Teessiders looked to continue their climb up the table.
The home team took time to adjust their formation and went a goal. However, men of the match Peter Brewer and Scott Morton worked hard and Brewer cracked home an equaliser before Morton grabbed a brace, first picking up on a goalkeeper mis-kick then rounding him to confidently finish.
Wilton cruised in the second half Adam Clarke nicked a fourth goal as Wilton produced some pretty passing moves. Gateshead found a late consolation goal but were sent back to Tyneside well beaten 4-2.
Wilton 2nd played host to a young Sunderland side who looked like they meant business, for the first five they went at Wilton but didn't have the power or finesse up front to worry the solid Wilton defence. Wilton looked sluggish, but man of the match Bob Leason took the opportunity to fire his team in front from a penalty corner. Sunderland continued to battle on but never looked likely to score.
Glen Cutler furthered the lead shortly after half time after some clever interplay on the right flank between the pacey winger Peter Morris and stand in full back Gary Shaugnessy. Johnny Couhig who has struggled to find form in recent weeks after a long lay off because of work commitments then managed to extend the Wilton lead with a fine effort that left the Sunderland keeper no chance. Final score 3-0.
Wilton 3rds lost 6-0 to Norton after a very even first half. Two deflected goals early in the second half proved too difficult for Wilton to overcome and by the end of the match Norton were worthy winners. Youngster Michael Barclay was man of the match after a confident display on the right wing.
