Goldsborough v Lingdale Utd: Goldsborough began the game with the wind at their backs and dominated the play from the kick off.
Marsay took Goldsborough into the lead after 15 minutes, scoring from eight yards.
The Lingdale defence were under constant pressure for the next 15 minutes, Gibson in the Lingdale goal making three excellent saves to keep the visitors in the match. Lingdale were given a disputed corner in the 44th minute and from corner a penalty was awarded due to a hand ball, Woodall made no mistake from the spot to level the score. Lingdale played better in the second half and two goals from Hololob secured the points for the visitors.
Hinderwell v Gt Ayton
Another big crowd at The Croft on a dismal Saturday saw Gt Ayton first out of the starting blocks with a goal after just five minutes, taken skillfully by Milburn. Hinderwell forced their way back into the game and it was no surprise when Jones equalised from just inside the area. The football lacked fluency as both sides strove to get on top. Bales began to boss the midfield area for Hinderwell and it was his pass that put Clennan in to take them ahead. Then back came Gt Ayton to level through Simpson. An inspired double substitution saw Hinderwell take the lead again as the two subs combined with Hicks, setting up Morrison to net from close range. Gt Ayton produced a storming finish and with the crowd calling for the final whistle, Davey equalised in injury time. A draw being the fair result in this scrappy but eventful match.
The Northern Echo Cup
Annandale Hotel v Highland Laddie
Annandale's cup jinx continued as they crashed out in agonising circumstances. The home side opened the scoring within 20 seconds, Booth firing home before Laddie had touched the ball. This spurred the visitors into action and Lowther brought them level. Dewing and Booth went close for Annandale but it was the Guisborough side who went into the break 2-1 ahead after Daynes converted a penalty. Annandale went on the attack in the second half with Booth testing the keeper and Bell being denied by a Nesbitt tackle. Anndale drew level when Booth was on hand to equalise. The game went into extra time and as both sides tired the game seemed to be heading for a penalty shoot out when in the 119th minute Annandale pushed forward, a Twiby pass put Dewing clear on goal only for him to blast his shot against the post. From the long clearance, hesitation in the home defence let in Lowther, who knocked the ball into an empty net and send Laddie into the next round.
Boosbeck Utd v Black Swan
As early as the fourth minute Boosbeck took the lead, an inch perfect free kick by Wilson found Johnson who scored with a header. Swan tried to get back into the game with Scott prodding and probing, but Boosbeck's rear guard held firm. Two minutes before half time a Boosbeck corner taken by Winter, was met at the near post by Slater to give Boosbeck a two-goal lead. Another corner by Winter resulted in Colman scoring the home team's third with an unstoppable header. Boosbeck continued to cause problems and with six minutes to go Johnson scored his second with a crisp finish to take Boosbeck through to the next round.
