Darlington Travellers Rest and Darlington The Mowden had an excellent encounter although the scoreline of 7-2 belies the actual difference of play between the teams.
Travellers opened the scoring through Chris Hall but by the interval Mowden had hit back through Scott Hodgson and Adam Wilson. In the second it was a case of putting away chances, Ryan Sandick scored for Travellers but Mowden took the points as first Hodgson with his second then a hat-trick from Ritchie Dodsworth, in the last minute keeper Roy Applegarth rounded off Mowden's scoring from the spot.
D'ton Skerne Park were first off the mark when Martin Scott shot them into a half-time lead against Stillington The Royal. They were also unlucky not to add a second when hitting the woodwork but Royal got the upper hand and ran out 5-1 victors. Paul Cleary (2), Mark Ferguson and Mark Warne scored, the fifth being an own goal.
After an even first half which ended 2-1 D'ton Stadia got the better of an improved D'ton Dalesman side by adding a further three without reply, Gavin O'Neil grabbed a pair with one each for Richard Harrison, Adam Hughes and Neil Willis.
D'ton Archdeacon carried on their good run when they visited D'ton GSOB coming away with a 7-1 win. Neil Blewitt scored a hat-trick (two penalties), Chris Jordan two and one apiece for Ian Thompson and James Howlett, Jimmy Morris was again on target for the Old Boys.
Young Gary Whittaker had an excellent game for Tindale WMC hitting four against Chilton Comminity College in their Minor Cup encounter, Mark Smith (2) and Lee Foster were the other scorers.
Hurworth Emerson Arms also join them in the next round as they came away from Howden Australian with a 4-3 victory, Chris Liddle, Anthony Scott and two for Kelvin Russell being their scorers. It was not to be Shildon Elm Road WMC's day as they missed early first half chances and finally went down 4-2 to Hartlepool The Warrior.
