Kings Head 6 Thornaby Mandale 1: Aoutstanding first half display enhanced the King's Head's title chances when they brushed aside the current champions.

Brian Crawley set the Guisborough side on it's way as early as the second minute when he headed home at the near post following a free kick. In the tenth minute, Paul Round added a second and midway through the half, Michael Jones cut in from the right before unleashing a powerful shot from the edge of the area. Steve Lambert beat the offside trap to pull a goal back for Mandale but King's Head wasted no time in restoring their advantage when Crawley headed home following a corner.

With virtually the last kick of the half, Round scored his second. The second half was a much quieter affair with Mandale's efforts being thwarted by debutant King's Head keeper Chris Tansley and the home side wrapped up the points when Crawley completed his hat-trick.

North Skelton Vill. 0 Ennis Square 2

Ennis Square retained top spot but they were made to work very hard by a determined North Skelton side that played much better than their lowly league placing might have suggested. Lee Bradley gave Ennis the lead with twenty minutes gone and in the second half Wayne Grant gave them the cushion of a second goal. Ben Crooks turned a fine performance in midfield for North Skelton to earn the man of the match award while Lee Bradley was the star man for Ennis.

PJS 1 Middlesbrough Post Office 3

Middlesbrough Post Office had the better of the opening exchanges but for all their possession, they rarely tested the PJS keeper. On 20 minutes however, John Simon crossed for John Cramer to sidefoot home from six yards out and the Posties had the opportunity to go further ahead when Simon was brought down in the box minutes later. A double save from keeper Steven Carter however kept the scoreline to a single goal until Simon found the back of the net shortly before half time. It was not until five minutes from time that the Post Office put the result beyond doubt with the goal of the game. Following a PJS corner, a throw out from the keeper found Stewart Rose who ran through to the edge of the opposition area where Simon set up Lee Griffiths whose right foot shot flew into the bottom corner of the net. PJS, with Jason Lowe picking up the man of the match award, deserved something for their efforts and they were duly rewarded when Micky Russell tapped the ball home with the last kick of the game.

South Bank U 4 British Steel Sp. 2

Anthony Gregory gave South Bank the lead following Lee Stephen's free kick but by half time Sports were back on level terms when David John beat the offside trap before firing home. It was not until ten minutes into the second half that United regained the lead when their man of the match Tony Leach ran through from his own half before unleashing an unstoppable shot from 25 yards. Gregory crossed for Leach to head home United's third goal before Leach completed a fine hat trick following good work from Mark Phillips. Two minutes from time, Jason Downing gave the scoreline a little more respectability when he scored his side's second.

Stokesley 5 NS Bulls Head 2

Goals from David Grange and Kevin Wilson put Stokesley in a strong position midway through the first half against the leagues bottom club. Bull's reduced the arrears thanks to a converted penalty but Neil Fawcett's goal shortly before half time restored Stokesley's advantage. Wilson scored his second of the game after the break and 15 minutes from time, Smith scored at the third time of asking. In the dying stages of the match, Bulls managed to pull another goal back.

Wilf Leader Trophy preliminary round

Black Horse 1 Linx Hemlington 6

A goalless first half saw Linx's task made harder when they were reduced to ten men but the dismissal only served to inspire the rest of the side who turned the pressure up after the break. Three goals went in in quick succession with Mark Dawson's goal the only response from the Black Horse. Mark Salvati turned in a man of the match performance scoring four while Chris Agiadis was on the mark for Linx's other two goals.

Woodman's Arms 5 Coulby Newham 2

A Paul Ritchie hat-trick was the inspiration for the Woodman's Arms victory with Ritchie getting off the mark in the eighth minute when he slotted the ball home into the bottom left hand corner. Ritchie drilled the ball home with five minutes remaining of the first half following a run down the left wing from Jason Peel and early in the second half, Paul Reed pounced on a defensive error to make it 3-0. Coulby pulled one back following a corner but when Mark Jones was fouled in the area, Ritchie made no mistake from the penalty spot to complete his hat trick. Good work from Steve Sheraton ended up with Reed scoring with the help of a deflection before Coulby scored a late consolation goal when the Woodies failed to clear their lines.
