Hambleton Radio's trial broadcast has been hailed a success.
The nine-day experiment was to establish if a local commercial radio station would be popular with listeners and business in the Northallerton area.
Station manager Brian Cooper said: "I was overwhelmed by the response, the phone just kept ringing with people saying how much they were enjoying listening to a station that talked about what was going on in their area.
"I was especially pleased to be able to give airtime to some of the voluntary organisations who were looking for help".
Programme controller Jeremy Gartland said: "A great deal of work went into preparing the station to go on the air, so I am delighted that listeners enjoyed the mix of music, news and information we were able to provide.
Stuart Kite, who runs UFO Discos, was among the trial presenters.
Chief engineer Chris Parkin said despite the low power granted for the temporary licence, the signal had carried well.
