RISING young North-East rock music talent Pete Shoulder has showcased his new sound on a three-track CD.
The disc, featuring his new band The Others, will be on sale at his gigs, including the Newcastle Opera House later this month, and through the website www.theothersonline.com
Pete, 20, from Waldridge, in County Duham, has also been recording tracks for the band's debut album, to be released next year.
The three tracks on the CD show how his writing has developed towards a contemporary style without losing his distinctive bluesy influences.
On Monday, the band hit the road for a six-date tour, starting at Portsmouth Guildhall, where they will support rock band Thunder.
Thunder are big admirers of the guitarist and singer-songwriter, who has written songs with their guitarist Luke Morley, and played a solo on the recent album by Morley and singer Danny Bowes.
Pete said: "I'm glad I have been given the time to develop and I feel I'm playing, writing and singing better than I have. It is the right direction.
"I'm looking forward to getting out and playing live again and showing people the new band.
"I can't wait for the Opera House. Unfortunately, we are not playing when Thunder play Northumbria University.''
Two years ago Pete, who has been gigging since he was 13 and was the youngest performer at the Stanley Blues Festival in County Durham, signed a deal with recording giant Sony International.
The Opera House gig is on Thursday, November 27, at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £7.50 and are available from the box office on 0191-232 0899.
