TWO County Durham MPs have visited courts to raise the profile of services for witnesses and victims of crime.
North West Durham MP Hilary Armstrong met staff at Consett Magistrates' Court. North Durham MP Kevan Jones, visited Chester-le-Street Magistrates' Court.
The MPs were seeking to find out more about the Witnesses and Victim Support scheme, which each year helps thousands of victims cope with the effects of crime.
The MPs' visits were part of a national Government campaign to raise public awareness of the service.
Alison White, Witness Service co-ordinator at Consett, said: "This was a great opportunity for us to promote who we are and what we do."
Pat Hehir, Victim Support co-ordinator at Chester-le-Street and Durham, said: "My staff and volunteers work very hard to provide an excellent service to help Mr Jones' constituents. I'm delighted that he accepted the invitation to find out more about our work."
