A MAN who crashed his car while over the drink-drive limit appeared in court yesterday.
Christopher Stephen Bowes, 28, of Spring Court, Darlington, had been at the Mardi Gras nightclub with a friend on November 8 when he decided to drive to his girlfriend's house at about 2.30am
The Ford Mondeo he was driving was involved in an accident with two other vehicles in Whitby Way.
Derek Walton, prosecuting, told Darlington magistrates that when police arrived, Bowes had left the scene but the keys were in the car's ignition.
Police went to his home where Bowes reported the Mondeo stolen, but he later admitted driving at the time of the accident.
Bowes told the court: "I know I'm guilty and I know what I did was wrong."
He pleaded guilty to drink-driving, failing to report an accident and failing to stop after an accident.
He was banned from driving for 18 months, and fined £260.
