MEMBERS of a learning library celebrated gaining an award by holding an open day.
Bishop Auckland MP Derek Foster presented Spennymoor Learning Library with the Investors In People Award when he attended the event at the town's leisure centre.
The learning library provides specialist equipment to both children and adults with learning difficulties in the South Durham area.
Library co-ordinator Jackie Heslop said that volunteers and staff had worked hard all year towards gaining the accolade.
She said: "The library has always believed that it has provided a good quality service and this has been confirmed by winning the Investors in People Award.''
Sedgefield Borough Mayor George Gray also attended the event with other dignitaries.
Primary school youngsters and adults with learning difficulties were also able to see what was on offer to them through the library and to play with the different pieces of equipment.
Mr Foster said: "I am delighted to present the Investors in People award. This is such a difficult award to achieve and my congratulations go to all the staff and volunteers."
