A HOUSING development which attracted more than 540 objections is being sent back to the drawing board - for the second time.
Applicant Cleveland Housing Aid Trust will again have to review its plan to build 20 two-storey self-contained flats at Wheatlands Farm Cottages in Redcar Road, Redcar.
Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council received more than 540 letters against the revised scheme and yesterday the planning committee sent the plans back to the applicant asking for the development to be split into smaller blocks of about four flats which would be more in keeping with the surrounding area.
Protestor Julie McFadzean said: "We're relieved that it's gone back to the drawing board."
The trust's general manager, Harold Eddy, said: "We tried to take on board what residents have said and we asked our architect to design the new drawing accordingly."
