The Under-10s were playing against Westoe and Will Iles scored a good try in the first three minutes for Mowden and after good tackling from Dan Baxter prevented a Westoe try, another attack from Mowden allowed Steven Hunter to pass the ball to Liam Riley to score a brilliant try.

After a good spell of play from both sides, Steven Hunter was able to score a try from the half way line to bring the score to three tries to nil.

In the second half Steven Hunter scored his second try and Mowden were able to stop Westoe from pulling back any tries by some good tackling, especially from Liam Riley.

This was a very good all-round display by all members of the squad.

Mowden Under-9s went down 30-15 to Westoe, who were also victorious at Under-8, winning 45-10.

The Under-13s match against Westoe kicked off late due to the England v France World Cup fixture ,and despite conceding a great deal of weight to the Westoe pack, DMP seemed to have been inspired by the England performance.

Tom Oldham, having a great season at number 8, broke away from the scrum to score in the corner.

With the backs feeding on scraps, Alex Gray stormed through from inside centre to score under the posts, with Tom Catterick kicking the conversion, making the score 12-0.

Westoe continued to favour the direct route, after several phases of strong forward play they were rewarded when the ball was fed to the wing, before DMP scored in the corner, 12-5.

DMP were playing their best rugby of the season, continually frustrating the strong Westoe forwards with bone jarring tackles, and from one of these Paul Marwood broke away powerfully to score under the posts, with Tom Catterick adding another conversion making it 17-5.

Westoe were determined to get something from the game , and were rewarded when, from a five-yard scrum, they forced their way over to score an unconverted try at the start of the second half for 17-10.

When one of the largest Westoe forwards broke clear, a try seemed certain until a tackle from Alex Patterson, the smallest player on the pitch, brought him crashing down.

However, after a penalty was awarded to Mowden on the half way line, the ball was fed to Paul Marwood, who ran across the half way line and then cut inside and smashed through the defence to score under the posts (24-10).

From the restart, the game was effectively ended when Adam Walker caught the ball well and then set off down the wing at a blistering pace, the ball was passed out to Tom Catterick who scored in the opposite corner, 29-10.

Westoe came back at Mowden though, but an interception by Alex Gray saw him run the length of the pitch to score under the posts, this was converted by Michael Harris, to make the final score 36-10.

It is traditional for the coaches to award a man of each half and an overall man of the match award, but on this occasion it was decided to award the entire team the award for a wonderfully entertaining all round display.
