Durham League Division Two: Consett Steelers v Durham Saints: Both teams came into the game looking for a win and this was obvious in the first quarter with both teams trading baskets, keeping the game tied at 12 apiece after four minutes.
The remainder of the quarter saw Chris Telford and Matt Patterson team up scoring Consett's next 14 points while Colin Lishman hit back with eight of the Saints ten points. The second period saw Saint's offensive rhythm disappear and was the quarter that game Consett the momentum and confidence to hold onto the win, with the home side outscoring the visitors 35 to 5. A good home team scoring effort saw Consett go into the half leading 61 to 27. The second half saw the Saints come out with a new strategy and combined with Consett's bench getting more minutes, they were able to take the period 24 to 19. Colin Lishman did most of the damage for the Saints with 11 personal points, whilst Dan Patterson helped to maintain Consett's lead with 9 points. The final period was equally close fought, but it was too late for a Saints revival. Consett were able to score enough to keep their substantial lead and take a valuable second win of the season. Final score Consett 102-Saints 74.

Shildon Lace Gold Strollers v Wear Valley Wolves
A tight first half with little separating the two squads only really opened up toward the end of the second quarter when the Strollers opened up a lead of 9 points thanks to some consistent shooting from Mal Ballard. As soon as the second half started the Wolves cancelled out the lead the LaceGold Strollers had built and only a timeout from the home bench was able to stop the leak. After the time out Shildon's composed play began to build the lead once again. The need was essential because the Wolves came back into the game again and the Strollers foul trouble meant the game was on a knife-edge. The LaceGold Strollers four players who finished the game were able to hang onto for a much deserved victory.

Ladies Division
Tyneside v Durham University
Durham leapt out the early lead at Coach Lane, with Lindsay Maguire with 13 personal points, only to allow Tyneside to manoeuvre back into the contest in the second half. Durham stretched the lead through the first half as Maguire was capably backed up by Tamara Davies helping Tyneside to a 12 point, half time lead.
The second half began and ended with jenny James and Zoe Vickers chipping away at the Durham lead. The excellent three point shooting from the Tyneside top two, in the second half alone, pushed the home team out ahead and with Durham finding it difficult to score, Tyneside never looked back after taking the lead with five minutes to go, winning the game 73-59.
Top scorers: Tyneside: Zoe Vickers 32, Jenny James 18, Charis Younger 16. Durham: Lindsay Maguire 26, Tamara Davies 12, Alison Turner 10.
