Premier Division: Athletic Rugby 2 Supporters Club 2; The visitors started the stronger and took the lead when Andy Braithwaite exchanged passes with Mick Gallagher and fired home.

Athletic fought back with both Andy Blackett and Alan Hoey going close before Steven Manson equalised after good work by Mark Taylor. Both sides had chances to take the lead before Hoey put Athletic ahead with just five minutes to go but Mick Bell hit a deserved equaliser.

Belle Vue Old Boys 5 Shakespeare 1

Belle Vue got back to their best playing some good football in a 5-1 victory. Two goals each from Chris Tierney and Paul Clapham plus Andy Fox's tremendous header saw them home. John Huntly was outstanding.

Lion Hillcarter 2 Blackhall CC 2

The visitors took advantage of poor defending to score from close range, but Andrew Allen replied for Lion and a fine strike by Lee Dixon put them ahead. Blackhall pressed hard and were rewarded with a well-taken equaliser. Allen struck the crossbar with a great strike from all of 35 yards but the visitors hung on for a draw.

Rovers 5 Welfare Cosmopolitan 0

The home side continued their winning ways with a comprehensive 5-0 victory over Welfare Cosmopolitan. They dominated the first half, but whenever they did find the target they found John O'Neill in fine form to deny them. The breakthrough finally came after 35 minutes when Keith Hutchinson curled a free-kick home from 20 yards. Rovers continued to press and both Andrew McKenna and Michael Ford saw goalbound efforts blocked on the line. They repeated their pressure in the second half and Hutchinson was again on target heading home Stuart Ord's cross. With Welfare now tiring debutant Stephen Ashton showed great composure to set up Lee Keers to score with ease. McKenna made it four and Ord rounded off a fine all round performance with a great effort from 25 yards.

First Division

Corp. Welfare 5 Tunstall Old Boys 1

Corporation were in great form, with man of the match Derek Dance at the heart of the defence. Harry Wolfe scored an outstanding opener, followed by a brace by Mark Barnfather and goals from Gavin Sanders and Stuart Sleeman before Tunstall scored a late consolation.

Greatham Bull & Dog 5 Corner Flag 2

Ten man Bull & Dog surprised themselves with an easy win over a lacklustre Corner Flag. Stephen Kearney scored from 15 yards after good work by Daniel Bew and Michael Hutchinson soon doubled it racing from the half-way line to crash the ball home from 25 yards. Kearney lobbed the keeper then completed a first half hat-trick with a good finish. Mark Ingstant and Nick Hay pulled goals back for Flag and although they went on to create more chances, they could not convert. Mark Horton rounded off the scoring from the spot.

Hartlepool Cricket Club 1 Rugby 4

Injuries, work commitments and the Rugby World Cup semi-final meant that Rugby played much of the first half with just nine men, yet still found themselves two up. Simon Ritson finished off a five-man move then Peter Bartleson added another with a neat finish. The Cricketers pulled a goal back through Jackson Taylor but two more from Bartelson saw Rugby home. Credit to the all the Rugby players for a superb first half performance which laid the foundation.

Nursery 5 Ye Olde Durhams 3

In a fine game, Durhams took the lead but Nursery levelled with a great volley from James Parkinson. The visitors got on top and took the lead, extending it in the second period. However, they eased up and Parkinson fired in another volley before Dave Eglintine set up Karl Fraser to equalise. A great solo effort from Steven Doyle and a chip from Anthony Young in quick succession gave the home side a great victory.

Odessa 0 Woodcutter 1

Odessa dominated the first half but Jonathon Crane and Lee Bryan were both denied by superb saves from Andy Wilson. They were reduced to ten men in the second half, but still created chances only to be thwarted by Wilson. Woodcutter gave as good as they got and with the game heading for a draw finally broke the deadlock when Peter Mincher latched onto a loose ball to lift the ball over the keeper's head. Odessa still had a chance to equalise but it went begging.

Office 3 Throston Wanderers 9

Thomas Hudson twice went close for Throston before Danny Richies beat two men and opened the scoring. Dean Hustler made it two, then volleyed the third from Lee Sanderson's cross and completed his hat-trick before half-time. Richies and Hustler added two more before Office pulled one back, but Colin Temple added the goal of the game, hitting a free-kick from half-way into the top corner. Office pulled another back but Moore volleyed home and Dodd added number nine before the home side's third consolation.

Second Division

Charter Bar 1 Athletic Mill House 3

An understrength Mill House took the lead after 15mniutes when Craig Thompson scored from a tight angle. Charter Bar equalised early in the second half, but Shane Bean fired the visitors back in front from 12 yards. Thompson added his second from ten yards - best for the visitors were Dean Rooney and the returning Paul Bartholomew.

Clarendon 9 Moorcock 1

The game was finished as a contest by the 25th minute when Clarendon went three up with headers from Andy Hagan and Aidan Trimble plus an own goal. John Butterfield pulled one back from the spot for Moorcock - virtually their only shot of the game. Hagan added another header, then Marty Waggott coolly slotted home to make it five at the break. The home side continued their domination in the second half with Peter Smith adding two more plus one for James Turner and a cheeky backheel from Chris Barlow. All credit to Mick Robinson in the Moorcock goal for keeping the scoreline down. Best for Clarendon were Smith, Hagan and Waggott.

Engineers 1 Seaton Holy Trinity 7

Although Engineers created plenty of chances, Stuart Robson twice going close and Robert Gibbins hitting a post, they were given a lesson in finishing by high-flying Seaton. Tommy Swift opened the scoring from close-range after good work by Jeff Graham, Ian McDonough added the second followed by Robert Thompson's 18 yard strike. Gary Wright pulled one back for Engineers from the spot but McDonough and Swift netted before the break. Star men McDonough and Swift both completed their hat-tricks - best for the home side were Parkinson and Wallis.

Fens 2 St Josephs 0

After a drab first half with both defences on top a cruel deflection put Fens in front. They later added a second to take all three points. Best for St Joes was skipper Geoff Larkin.

King Johns Tavern 5 Owton Lodge 2

The home side scored first but Adam Parker equalised with his first goal for the club. King Johns added a further three before Neil Rafferty pulled another back, but they had the final say with a fifth goal. Best for Lodge was Robert Eglintine.

St Francis 2000 2 Stranton Ath 1

A second nail biter in a row for St Francis, who dominated much of the first half but only had an Anthony Coverdale penalty on the stroke of half-time to show for their efforts. Coverdale added a second after good work by David Kerr and Michael Butler but Stranton pulled one back with a superb 40-yard strike from Wayne Thompson. Both keepers impressed with a string of good saves.

Workingmens Club 2 TMD 1

The home side started brightly, creating plenty of chances and took the lead when Mick Ireland scored after good work by Kevin and Paul Sharp. TMD fought back and equalised but Jonny Hayes fired home what proved to be the winner. Workies hung on for the points in a closely fought second half. David Wright and Allen Richardson starred for the winners.
