OUSTED Anthony Williams last night returned to his homeland when he moved to Swansea City on loan.

The former Wales Under-21 keeper played just one League game this season before losing his place to Jim Provett.

With the chances of a first-team recall remote, Pool boss Neale Cooper last night allowed him to leave for a month.

Williams becomes the fourth Pool player to leave Victoria Park on a temporary basis following Paul Arnison (Carlisle), Adam Boyd (Boston) and Marcus Richardson (Lincoln).

He is unlikely to make his bow against Darlington at the Vetch Field tomorrow.

Provett is one of the young guns Cooper has put his faith in this season.

Last week he fielded a new-look back four against Rushden. Skipper Micky Barron made way for teenager Darren Craddock and there was a recall for Matty Robson as the defence changed in personnel and positions.

Chris Westwood took Barron's role at right back and Craddock slotted in alongside Micky Nelson in the middle.

Cooper gave every indication he could stick with the set-up for tomorrow's tester at Plymouth.

Barron played in the reserves' draw with Darlington on Wednesday.

Pool head for the south coast this morning, sitting in a healthy sixth spot in Divison Two, three places and three points behind Paul Sturrock's side.

Cooper said: "I've given Micky Nelson stick in the past for the way he has played against big lads up front, but I thought he did well against Trevor Benjamin.

"He took a couple of knocks, but that's what happens as a centre-half.

"Westy did well at right back in the same game. We knew Rushden use the wings and that's why we put him there.

"I quite liked the way he played there against Whitby when we made a couple of changes and stuck with it.

"Craddock showed me enough during the week to start in central defence.

"Micky was disappointed not to play, but I sat down with him and explained the situation. Sometimes we need a bit more quality and I liked the look of Westy in there.

"People might say I have taken a chance playing the young kids, but I see them in training every day so I know what they can do. I know how well they have been brought up at the club with Martin Scott and now Paul Stephenson.''
