At the weekend two Billingham swimmers competed at the NEC BAGCAT Short Course competition at Leeds.
Twelve-year-old Chris Wilkinson produced fantastic swims notching up gold in the 100m IM, Silver in the 100m fly and free, Bronze in the 200m free, fly and 1500m free, also 5th in the 200m IM and 400m free.
Eleven-year-old Glen Martin swam brilliantly picking up bronze in the 100m IM 4th in the 100m free, breast, back, and 400m free, 5th in the 200m IM and free and 6th in the 100m fly.
The preceding weekend after another productive gala 13 swimmers competing in the 22nd Masters Gala at Chester came away with three 1st places, 12 second and 11 third, with the majority of swims producing personal bests.
Those competing in the 19 to 24 year age bracket were Helen Muscroft with two firsts in the 100m free and back and 2nd in the 100m IM Lorraine Riddle came 2nd in the 200m free and breast, third in the 50m fly and 100 back and 5th in the 100m I.M.
Two swimmers competed in the 30 to 34 category Gary Pluck 2nd in the 50m back and fly and 100m free, third in the 100m I.M. and 7th in the 50m breast. Myles Carter was 2nd in the 50m breast, 3rd in the 50m free and fly, 4th in the 100m IM and 5th in the 50m back.
The 40 to 44 age category was a very competitive group with many swimmers competing. In the men's John Lamb with a 1st in the 50 fly, 2nd in the 50m breast, 3rd in the 50m free and 5th in both the 50m back and 100m IM Guy Fawkes took 2nd in the 200m free, 3rd in the 100m back, 6th in the 100m fly and 50 breast and 10th in the 100m IM Mark Wilson was 4th in the 100m back, 5th in the 200m free, 10th in the 50m fly, 12th in the 50m breast and 16th in the 100m IM Gary Snowball 4th in the 100m free, 9th in the 50m fly, 11th in the 50m breast and 15th in the 100m IM.
Competing for the ladies was Shirley Fawkes who came 2nd in the 100m breast, 3rd in the 200m free, 6th in the 50m fly, 8th in the 50m back and 10th in the 100m IM Gillian Sheehan 3rd in the 100m free and 9th in the 50m breast.
In the 45 to 49 category Ian Muscroft came 2nd in the 50 breast, fly and 200m free, 3rd in the 100m breast and 6th in the 50m fly and back and 100m IM Sue Wilson was 2nd in the 200m free, 3rd in the 50m fly and 4th in the 50m breast and 100m IM
Ray Butterworth in the 55 to 59 category was 5th in the 50 fly and back, 6th in the 100m I.M. and 7th in the 50m free.
