A NORTH-EAST police force has opened its doors to members of black and minority ethnic communities who want to comment or ask questions about race issues in policing.
Northumbria Police's Chief Constable, Crispian Strachan, addressed concerns from members of black and minority ethnic communities following a recent BBC documentary, The Secret Police- man, which exposed racist behaviour from a group of police recruits.
Representatives from across the force area were invited to the consultation in Newcastle, where they could question Mr Strachan and senior officers.
People were also asked to contribute ideas for policing.
Mr Strachan said: "I would like to stress to anyone who could not attend the meeting that they can still contact us about any issues or concerns they might have.
"We have already made it clear and repeat we will not tolerate racist behaviour in any form, whether inappropriate language, harassment or discrimination."
Anyone with concerns can write to Northumbria Police at North Road, Ponteland, NE20 0BL.
