A TUTORING scheme is on the look-out for more youngsters to help after attracting a record number of volunteers.
The one-to-one tutoring scheme run by Durham Student Community Action (SCA) attracted more than 150 new members through a successful recruitment campaign.
Volunteers work with local GCSE students and tutor them in a range of subjects.
The scheme only has 40 youngsters on its books at the moment and with the influx of volunteers the SCA's executive committee is looking for more.
Tutoring is provided free of charge to secondary school pupils.
Executive committee chairman Alastair McCabe said: "The number of new volunteers exceeded our wildest expectations but now we really need to have contact with more local secondary schools and college students so that our new eager volunteers have the chance to put their knowledge and enthusiasm to good use."
SCA manager Catherine Isaacs said: "I'm really excited to have so many new keen volunteers to work with and I would urge any school or parent in the area who know a child who could benefit from our service to get in touch."
