SHOPPERS were entertained by a local youngster at a Spennymoor store on Saturday, when it held a fundraising show for the BBC Children In Need appeal.
Kelly McWaters, from Chilton, was invited to the Asda store in Spennymoor to sing songs to customers while staff collected donations for the BBC appeal.
The 12-year-old Ferryhill Comprehensive School pupil has won a host of talent contests across the country and hopes to become a professional singer one day.
She said: "I really enjoy performing and it is really nice when I can join a charity event."
After a week of fundraising events, including raffles, cake stalls and collections, the store managed to break its £3,000 target for the charity.
Events co-ordinators Ann Allison and Jane Warren thanked customers for their support, including children who gave their pocket money to the appeal, to help youngsters in the UK affected by problems including illness, abuse, poverty or drugs misuse.
