Kaylie Taylor has become the first girl in her school to win a regional cross country title.
Kaylie, 11, who attends Alderman Leach Primary School, in Leach Grove, Darlington, competed against 76 other girls in the Upper Schools Junior Cross Country Championship at Hummersknott School and Language College, in Darlington.
Kaylie, from Darlington, was delighted with the victory and is considering joining a running club.
Teacher Paul I'Anson, who drove the competitors to the race, said everyone was delighted with Kaylie's success.
"When she came in first I was just over the moon for her and delighted for the school. It is a wonderful result. Kaylie is a very sporty girl and excels in practically everything she tries her hand at," he said.
