About 150 people are expected to take part in a Christmas lantern parade in Cockfield, near Barnard Castle, on Thursday, December 4.
Teesdale District Council has agreed that Front Street in the village should be closed to traffic between 6.30pm and 7.15pm for safety.
After the parade the participants will gather on the village green near Coronation Terrace for carol singing.
The event is being organised by the village's Christmas decoration committee.
The council has also agreed that the main road through Evenwood should be closed on Tuesday, December 2, from 6pm, for lantern parade from Fairfield to Oaks Bank.
