EXPERIENCED business people are to be recruited across the region in a drive to make schools more entrepreneurial.
As part of a national campaign, first announced by Chancellor Gordon Brown in the Budget, ten enterprise advisers and one manager will be recruited in the North-East, at salaries of between £38,000 and £42,000, to work with 100 selected secondary schools.
Each advisor will be responsible for ten schools, where, among other things, they will support the staff in providing enterprise education, developing links with local businesses, encouraging an enterprise culture within the schools and advising on the use of enterprise techniques in school management.
They will work within and strengthen the network of education business links across the region through the four Education Business Link Consortia - Tweblo, Learn2work Tees Valley, Learn2work Northumberland and County Durham Business and Learning Partnership
