PRIMARY school pupils are aiming to raise around £15,000 to modernise their toilet blocks.
The youngsters at Bowesfield Primary School, in Stockton, have formed a school council.
The first item on its agenda is to improve the toilets.
Although there is nothing structurally wrong with the toilets, the children feel they are in need of an overhaul.
So far, the youngsters are in talks to hold a sponsored sports event, Christmas disco and may even take Smarties tubes home to fill with pennies.
Vicky Turner, community liaison officer at the school, said: "It has been really good with the children coming up with some really good ideas.
"The toilets are not horribly disgusting, they could just do with modernising," she said.
"They are clean but are very old fashioned.
"It is the first decision the school council has taken and hopefully they will be able to raise the money to carry out the work."
There are four toilet blocks at the school and it is hoped all them will be able to be upgraded.
Anyone who may be able to help with fundraising or to sponsor the scheme is asked to contact Ms Turner, at the school, on (01642) 393550.
