KRISTINA Stiller of Low Worsall, near Yarm, who started sculling only a year ago with Tees Rowing Club, has been invited to attend the Great Britain World Class Potential Camp in Switzerland during the week before Christmas.
The St Peter's School, York student impressed the selectors during the recent Great Britain junior trials at Boston, Lincolnshire, where she finished third in her category.
A total of 96 girls took part and Kristina's time of 21min 50sec was only two seconds off second place.
She will now have a week of intensive training under the guidance of top Great Britain rowing coaches.
Those attending the camp will be aiming for a place in the British team for either the Junior European Championships in Ravenna, Italy or the Junior World Championships in Banyoles, Spain. Both take place in July next year.
Kristina also won the women's junior 18 single scull section of the York Small Boats Head of the River event, organised by York City Rowing Club last weekend.
The event, contested over a 5km course on the River Ouse, attracted more than 350 entries.
She was also successful in the women's junior 18 double sculls at the same event.
