CARLISLE. - Pedigree Limousin cattle, from five herds, saw a a top price paid of 8,000gns for a four-year-old bull from the herd of W Barron, Morrow Edge Farm, Burnhope. Waindale Prime, a November 1999 son of Waindale Jackpot, was sold to the pedigree herd of Robert Graham, Airthrey Kerse, Bridge of Allan. Three further cattle from Mr Barron were also purchased for the Graham herd. Newacres Nadine, registered under Mr. Barron's original prefix, 3,400gns, a six-year-old cow by the Broadmeadows Cannon son Carse Icarus and out of Newacres Gold, was sold in-calf to Waindale Prime. Newacres Lynsey, the same way bred as Newacres Nadine, sold for 3,000gns, again in-calf to Waindale Prime. Mr.Graham's third purchase was Barron's Rose for 3,200gns. This 3-year old female in-calf with her second calf, is by Windyhill Listz out of the Talent sired Ronick Goodietoo.
Three bulls were sold from Mr Barron's herd. Barron's Tyson, a March 2002 son of Waindale Prime sold for 4,100gns to S Ewart & Sons, Dumfries. This bull, out of Newacres Nadine, carried a beef value of LM+22. Barrons Tait sold for 3,500gns to RW Rowlinson, Derbyshire. Again March 2002 born and again by Waindale Prime, this bull was out of the Carse Icarus sired Newacres Maxine.
Newacres Maxine herself was sold for 2,900gns to LJ Williams & Ptrs, Leominster. Maxine is a 1996-born cow, out of Newacres Ivy, who has reared five calves. She was sold in-calf to Waindale Prime.
Barrons Rusty, a February 2000 born female in-calf with her second calf, made 3,200gns when selling to Messrs Thomas, Llanwrst. She was by Windyhill Listz and out of Newacres Nadine.
The sale also featured a dispersal of the Rodcourt herd on behalf of Messrs JW Foot & Sons, Ashbourne, Derbyshire. Top price was 2,800gns for the 4-year-old cow Rodcourt Pleaseme, sired by Ronick Hawk and out of Rodcourt Lesley, a MMB Bonheur sired cow. Pleaseme carried a high beef value of LM+32 and was sold with her bull calf at foot, the Rodcourt Rix sired Rodcourt Unfix, to David Stobart who runs the Cracrop pedigree herd at Cracrop, Brampton, Cumbria.
