A WORKSHOP designed to get more boys on the dance floor has been declared a success by its organisers.
Two days of classes led by professional dancers has seen 140 year nine boys at Richmond School learning about jazz, contemporary and street dance.
The project aims to raise the profile of dance in the school and began with a demonstration by the group of five professionals from Leeds. Youngsters were then given the chance to try it for themselves and staged a production in front of a school assembly on Wednesday afternoon.
Head of dance at the school, Victoria Hargest, said: "They have been learning a combination of street dance and martial arts and they have fused that together into a production.
"We had a full attendance on Tuesday and that was very positive in itself. They are all really up for it and it has been brilliant to see them getting involved."
