Bishop Auckland have had a "very positive" meeting with Shildon over their proposed ground improvements at Dean Street.
Bishops have been given a list of improvements to be made at Dean Street in order for them to satisfy the league's criteria for the UniBond Premier Division, with the majority of work to be completed by April 1.
Vice-chairman Tony Duffy said: "There are some very useful ideas.
"One of our main problems is the referees' changing room. We have to enlarge it by nearly a square metre, but Shildon have made one or two suggestions which means that we may not have to knock any walls down.
"We're thinking of bringing in a portacabin to provide facilities for spectators on the ground, which would solve another problem.
"We were also worried about the covered standing accommodation at one time, but it doesn't look as if we need to do anything with that.
"There's a few other jobs to do -- for example we have to carry out repairs to some concrete posts around the pitch -- but we're confident we can do those by April 1st. The referees' changing room might take a little longer, because it might have to be done by the end of the season."
Bishops, who are without a game this weekend, have arranged their Durham Challenge cup tie against Sunderland Reserves for Tuesday, January 6 at the Archibalds Stadium, kick off 7pm.
Spennymoor manager Tony Lee had a "very amicable meeting" with the Bishop Auckland Referees' Society last week.
Lee, who has been a regular critic of referees over the years, spoke of his playing and management career with the referees, who officiate at all levels of football.
Referees' secretary Terry Farley said: "Tony went down really well, and we all had a good evening.
"There wasn't any animosity - Tony wasn't sent out of the room or anything like that."
Moors have arranged their Durham Challenge Cup tie at Billingham Synthonia for Tuesday, January 6, kick off 7.30pm.
