The Roundhay Park five was an extra event arranged to replace the cancelled Richmond fixture in the Club Championship series of races.

The route was different from the usual because of restoration work and the morning was bright and clear, if windy at times.

Andrew Kilding of City of Sheffield won the race in 25.34 minutes and Stewart Mechie was the first Harrier to finish in 61st place in 31.55.

Other Harriers: David Read came 92nd in 33.04, Hywel Smith 135th in 35.02, David Shorrocks 137th in 35.08, Ernie Huck 145th in 35.22, Alan Wikeley 155th in 35.51, Richard Soper 159th in 36.03, Pat Kirby 239th in 39.06, Ian Codling 252nd in 39.42, Kaye Mechie 269th in 40.36, Judith Seaton 320th in 43.41 Marian Codling 377th in 46.54 and Pamela Sherlock 397th in 48.42. There were 450 finishers in this increasingly popular event.

The Yorkshire Dragoon 7.7 mile race had fewer entries, with only 164 finishers, but it was an excellent event, well organised and well marshalled.

Chris Jefferies of Billingham Marsh House was the winner 43.56, with Caroline Pollard in 34th place in 52.19 minutes. Caroline was 3rd lady, behind two runners from Swaledale. Steve Pollard finished 63rd in 56.51, Ian Codling 107th in 61.40 and Marian Codling 155th in 73.13.
