St Mary's College OB 15 British Steel Sports 1: College secretary Tony McTaggart marked his first full game for some time with a second half hat trick as St. Mary's ran riot against a British Steel Sports.
With McTaggart pulling the strings in midfield, the College totally dominated the opening half that saw them race to an 8-0 lead with Mark Taylor hitting a hat trick while Mark Elliott and Dave Aspery rattled in two goals apiece. Ian Blakemore completed the first half scorers for St. Mary's. Glen Bennett and Dave Aspery picked up two more goals in the second period.
Ennis Square 5 Stokesley 1
Stokesley battled well against highly rated Ennis Square taking the lead in the second minute and going in all square at the break following Alan Ford's headed goal. The second half was a different story with Ennis racing out of the blocks to take the lead through Jonathan Kirk just a minute after the restart. A run down the right ended with Lee Brady crossing for Ford to score his second and another centre was headed home by Wayne Gent at the far post. Kirk completed the scoring following a corner.
Kings Head 4 Woodman's Arms 1
The Guisborough side went ahead in the tenth minute when Brian Crawley scrambled the ball home following a corner but the Woodman's Arms hit back to level when Geoff Maloney scored from the spot. Within a minute, Crawley had restored the King's Head's advantage and despite the fact that both sides were producing some good flowing moves. The second period saw the Woodman's going all out to get back on level terms but their efforts were thwarted when Crawley headed home his hat trick following good work from Paul Round. It was not until five minutes from time that substitute Gary Round made sure of the three points with a well struck shot.
Middlesbrough Post Office 3 Thornaby Village 0
Stephen Dalton began the move that broke the deadlock finding John Simon who beat two defenders before setting up Scott Hislop for the opening goal. Shortly before half time, Simon volleyed home off the post following a mazy run from Paul McGlade to give the Posties the upper hand. The second half saw them continue to press and but for the intervention of Dean Melville with a succession of last ditch tackles, they might well have won by a far greater margin. As it was, it was not until three minutes from time that they added to their score when Simon completed his hat trick.
NS Bulls Head 1 PJS 3
PJS put a little more daylight between themselves and the re-election places when they picked up their third win of the season against the Bull's Head. Goals from Paul Perret and Paul Stephenson gave them an early advantage but Bulls came back when Danny Starling reduced the arrears shortly before half time. Twenty minutes from time however, PJS struck again when Michael Russell scored to put the rewsult beyond doubt.
South Bank Utd. 4 Linx Hemlington 3
South Bank trailed at the interval after goals from Jamie Godfrey and Gary Smith had given Linx Hemlington a deserved lead. Five minutes into the second period Michael McKay started United's comeback following a corner kick and minutes later Peter Renton hit the equaliser with a looping 20-yarder. Just ten minutes remained when John Lodge put Anthony Gregory through to give South Bank ahead for the first time in the game. Linx responded minutes later when sloppy defending allowed them to level the scores but in a dramatic finale Graham Cousans laid the ball off to Gregory who hit the winner with just two minutes remaining.
