A WEBSITE created by children at a primary school has won them an award.
Dubbing themselves the Spiders on the Web, a small group of children at Framwellgate Primary, in Durham, have been busy weaving together a colourful and eye-catching website for their school.
With a little help from adults, the children have been working on the site after school and at lunch-time.
Their efforts paid off, after it was named regional winner in a Tesco Computers for Schools competition.
The website features news, details about the school and an introduction to the teachers, with a pencil drawing of each adult created by children in place of photographs.
Ten children in Year 5 and 6 are working on the design, which they hope to develop further and eventually enable users to click on a member of staff and be linked up to their class.
Teacher Joni White and school governor Claire Calvert guided the children in their project.
Miss White said: "We only helped them with spelling and initial skills, they decided what they wanted to go in the website and they go around the school with a digital camera, taking pictures for it."
The website, which is still under construction, can be visited at www.framprimary.ik.org.
