TICKETS are still available for a fundraising concert in support of the Macmillan Cancer Relief charity.
The Macmillan Concert features Durham Cathedral organist James Lancelot conducting the Durham University Choral Society performing Vivaldi's Gloria, plus several madrigals.
Rising singing star Kath Ireland will be appearing with her regular choir, The Ormston Singers, giving a specially prepared medley From Mozart to Gershwin.
Described as a big-voiced soprano, Kath went down a storm performing alongside world-renowned County Durham-born baritone Sir Thomas Allen at the Macmillan concert at Raby Castle last year.
This year's concert is at Elvet Methodist Church, in Old Elvet, Durham, next Friday, at 7.30pm.
Tickets, costing £7.50, which includes hot punch and mince pies, are available from Macmillan Cancer Relief, at 1 Frederick Street South, Meadowfield, Durham, or by ringing 0191-378 1188.
Proceeds will go towards Macmillan's £600,000 target to fund palliative care consultants to serve the north and south of the county for three years, plus back up support.
