ELDON Arms dented North Briton's Second Division title assault with a narrow, 1-0 win over the promotion hopefuls.
The Brit, who have been enjoying life at the top of Division Two, compounded their recent league blip with this further frustrating result.
Le Nevison scored Eldon's winner with just 20 minutes remaining.
And secretary John Sweeney says it was a close game. "It was end-to-end," he said. "It really could have gone either way. It was a really good game of football played by both sides and a good advert for the league. Now we can hopefully move on from this because we're currently in a false position and we all believe we can do much better."
Thorns' 3-0 win at Browney provided the only other league game last week as they stretched their lead at the top.
Most clubs were competing in the B&A Trophy last week, and there were no real shocks.
The only 'upsets' were Second Division Grand winning 3-0 at First Division side Binchester Social Club, Mark Priestly (2) and Mark Cowley scoring the goals.
Second Division Masons Arms, meanwhile, won 3-1 at Horndale thanks to strikes by Gary Dixon (2) and Justin Fox. Rob Chambers scored Horndale's goal.
Meanwhile, Old Shildon progressed with a 6-2 win at Boot & Shoe, Thomas Louden (2), Ian Maddison, Paul Whensley, Martin Hedley and Robert Wilson scoring the goals. David Robinson and David Lambert scored for the Boot.
Loves also progressed with a 4-1 win at Lakeside, Gary Hindmarch (2), Jay Wilson and Stephen Hancock scoring the goals. Morgan Fielding scored Lakeside's only goal.
Elsewhere, Green Tree won 3-1 at home to Shildon Athletic. David Longstaff, Andrew Walton and Darren Dye scored for the winners, with Steven Bennett netting Shildon's only goal.
In the first round of the competition, Newton Aycliffe scraped a 2-1 win at home to Second Division side Voltigeur thanks to goals by Paul Stevens and Dave Muir. Ian Mains scored Volti's goal (Aycliffe meet Thorns in the second round).
Hunwick won 4-0 at Tudhoe United with goals by Stephen Howe (2), Ian Wise and Ian Richardson. (Hunwick play Beehive in the second round).
The quarter-finals, due to take place on January 11, now consist of: Grand, Old Shildon, Masons Arms, Loves, Green Tree, Hunwick/Beehive, Postchaise/Victoria, Thorns/Newton Aycliffe.
