A THREE-legged Jack Russell found wandering around a cricket pitch, has left a club steward stumped.
The small dog, which is thought to be just under a year old, was found walking around the grounds of Durham City Cricket Club, in Green Lane, by steward Bernadette Mason.
But despite calls to every dog kennels, vets and police in the district, Mrs Mason has been unable to trace the animal's owner.
She said the pet has left everyone bowled over, but she is keen to find her owner, or a home where someone can spend plenty of time with the animal.
"She's very well trained, she just craves a lot of attention," said Mrs Mason.
The stray dog made a bee-line for Mrs Mason and has barely left her side since.
When she was found last week, the animal doggedly followed the steward around and even joined her behind the crowded cricket club bar.
But the club steward said she could not look after the dog with her full-time work commitments.
Mrs Mason said: "She followed me through a room full of people, where there was a disco and came with me behind the bar and she's never left. She's adopted me. I haven't adopted her."
