CLUB revellers and college students are being targeted by a Be Safe campaign in the run-up to Christmas.
World Aids Day on Monday is the focus for events in Bishop Auckland and Darlington, encouraging young people to take care of their sexual health.
Posters and leaflets are being distributed to schools, clinics, surgeries, youth centres and colleges in the south of County Durham.
The Durham Dales Primary Care Trust is working with the Health Improvement team, school nurses, Gay Advice Darlington (Gad), Bishop Auckland College, Education in the Community and secondary school staff.
Bishop Auckland College will host the first advice and information event today, from 10am to 2pm.
Games, quizzes and gifts are on offer at Berlin's Bar, in Darlington, where representatives of the trust and Gad will give advice on Aids/HIV and other sexual health issues.
A syphilis awareness night will be held at the same venue on December 15.
Sexual health outreach workers will be visiting young people at Glenholme Youth Centre on Tuesday and Wednesday, between 7pm and 9pm, Auckland Youth and Community Association, from 6.30pm to 8.30pm on Thursday, and Bishop Auckland College on Friday, from 11am to 2pm.
