STAFF at a Darlington store have said farewell to a colleague who has retired after more than four decades working there.
June Trattles began work at the British Home Stores, in Northgate, on October 2, 1961, at the age of 17.
Miss Trattles, who will celebrate her 60th birthday this week, has spent most of her years at the store working in the stockroom.
Colleague Shirley Miller said: "She has been our stockroom lady for numerous years and she has seen a lot of changes.
"She is going to be a hard act to follow. She runs the stockroom extremely well and people admire her for what she has done."
On her last morning, staff presented her with gifts including flowers, a cake and store vouchers, and took her out for lunch. They also had a midweek celebratory night out.
Miss Trattles, who lives in Farndale Crescent, Darlington, plans to spend her retirement gardening, travelling and spending more time on church activities.
