THE Combined Cadet Force at a Teesside school has undergone its biennial inspection.
The inspecting officer was head of the 50,000 strong Air Cadet movement, Air Commodore Jon Chitty, who visited Yarm School to conduct the inspection from his base at the RAF College, Cranwell.
He was met by a guard of honour of Army and RAF cadets before inspecting a parade of the entire contingent.
The Air Commodore watched a continuous drill display carried out by a squad of senior cadets who went through their demonstration routine without a single word of command.
Contingent Commander, Squadron Leader John Logan said: "The cadets put on a flawless and dramatic display which was testament to the hours of hard work they have put in by way of preparation."
Following the display, Air Commodore Chitty was taken on a tour of the school to see other cadets demonstrating various aspects of the activities they take part in.
He said: "I often tell cadets I wish I could change places with them, the opportunities and experiences open to cadets are second to none and the next few years in the services look set to provide some marvellous experiences and challenges with the advent of new technology.
"These cadets today have demonstrated the high standards of commitment and leadership which will be so valuable in this environment."
