A COMMUNITY group has transformed land donated by a steel company, into a park and play area.
Members of the Change forum, based in Carlin How, near Loftus, raised funds for the land near Kennedy Crescent, which was donated 30 years ago by Skinningrove Steel Works.
The borough council at the time provided play equipment but the apparatus deteriorated. Most of it was removed to comply with safety regulations.
Now, cash from local fundraising, Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council, Northumbrian Water, and Awards for All, has paid for the park to be transformed.
Claire Breckon, of Kennedy Crescent, in Carlin How, said: "We are pleased that our hard work has brought such wonderful results."
Linda White, Change chairman, said: "This is yet another exciting development for Carlin How. Already we have a new sports court, a doorstep green and a Surestart building in the pipeline."
