HUNDREDS of people were evacuated from a theatre twice on the opening night of its pantomime after false fire alarms.
The cast of Aladdin joined the audience of more than 400 to take shelter from the cold in shop doorways and beneath canopies outside Harrogate Theatre, in North Yorkshire.
Just before the curtain was due to go up, a member of staff said a fire alarm had gone off and that the audience should leave.
Firefighters were called and, after 20 minutes, gave the all-clear.
As they were re-entering, the alarm sounded again and the theatre was evacuated once more.
The cause of the false alarms was unknown.
