A SCHOOLGIRL won a writing competition set up to mark National Poetry Day.
Katie Larvin, aged ten, from Redcar, wrote the winning poem Brilliant Sale after a shopping trip to the Barker and Stonehouse store, in Middlesbrough.
The furniture retailer launched the competition in its six stores and asked customers and staff to write on a specially designated wall.
Katie plans to continue to develop her creative talents using her prize, a copy of the Nation's Favourite Poems for Children.
She said: "I like writing poetry at school. It's one of my favourite subject."
