AN artist has returned to her home town after 40 years for an exhibition of her paintings.
Barbara McMillan, formerly Robinson, left Darlington in the 1960s to study art at Bath Academy. She now works as a professional painter in Cornwall.
In autumn, she returned to the region to paint a collection of Yorkshire Dales landscapes, which are being exhibited at Dodds, in Tubwell Row, over Christmas.
Mrs McMillan, a former pupil of Darlington High School, who lived in Merrybent, said: "After living in the South for so long, it is refreshing to come north again and paint the beautiful countryside where I grew up.
"I no longer have any family up here, but I want to come up once or twice a year from now on and do a series of pictures."
