A LIFEBOAT coxswain brought fish straight from the sea to mark the opening of a town's first seafood restaurant.
Robbie Maiden travelled out to sea in an inshore lifeboat yesterday to collect fresh fish from a trawler.
He brought it ashore to be cooked at the newly built Ocean restaurant inside the Staincliffe Hotel, in Hartlepool, and cracked a bottle of champagne on the outside of the building.
Hotel owner Mark Jones has invested more than £250,000 on turning a former bar at the hotel into the seafood restaurant.
Mr Jones said: "It has been a fantastic day, with about 80 people attending the event, including our mayor".
