TEENAGER Lisa Powell is helping youngsters to understand the perils of fire.
The 13-year-old has teamed up with Smokey the Dragon to spearhead the North Yorkshire fire service's community safety programme.
Smokey is the main character on an interactive CD created by Little 3 Creative Solutions of Thirsk. It teaches children the importance of fire safety and covers a number of different aspects using animation and sounds.
Lisa, a pupil at the Allertonshire School in Northallerton, provides the voice-over for the CD, which is aimed at youngsters aged from five to seven.
Community safety education officer Nan Harding said: "This will prove to be an excellent tool for delivering the safety messages to kids in a manner they will understand.
"Already this year we have seen evidence of the importance of a good safety education programme. This partnership will enable us to continuously improve the service we deliver."
Little 3 Creative Solutions' work for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service was a free community project to benefit school children throughout the region.
