A FOOTBALL club official took part in a 25-mile bike ride to raise money for charity.
Peter Denton, of Ferryhill Athletic FC, raised £150 for Mayor of Ferryhill Doreen Greenwell's chosen charity, Rosebank School.
That figure was topped up to £200 by the club sponsors VW Pulman, a car dealership in Durham.
Mr Denton's efforts also raised £150 for club funds, which will go towards attempts to relocate back in Ferryhill.
The club, which used to play at the old Darlington Road Ground, switched to Dean Bank until that ground was deemed not of a high enough standard for the Wearside League. Since then, the club has been playing in Shildon, but would love the chance to return to its Ferryhill home.
Team manager Mark Fanning said: "We're desperate to get back to Ferryhill and we're in talks with the council to do just that. They are looking to develop the old Darlington Road ground and make it into a football academy and we want to get involved in that.
"We want to do as much as possible to get back to Ferryhill and give the people a stadium that would benefit not only this club, but junior players and the wider community."
