A £42,000 scheme to refurbish a park pavilion only cost a council £15,000 - thanks to benefactors.
Final approval for the works at Ripon Spa Gardens pavilion, which is owned by Harrogate Borough Council, has been given by cabinet member for leisure Councillor Pat Jones.
She said the pavilion was a useful asset to the award-winning gardens.
Councillor Jones also thanked people who gave money towards the project, saying the cash had greatly lessened the impact of the final bill.
A report by leisure bosses said the pavilion had been in such a poor state of repair that membership of the bowls club had been declining as a result.
A spokesman for the council's leisure department said: "In addition, the pavilion was proving to be a target for drinking and vandalism.
"The refurbishment has given an opportunity to design out the congregating area, which should prevent this kind of behaviour."
